July 1-3, 2019 Intro & Advanced Wilderness Skills Sampler Day Camps

Open To All Campers ages 5-12: The Intro Skills Sampler (call or email to check available space)

Our Wilderness Skills Sampler curriculum has no prerequisite and introduces a variety of wilderness skills that Wolf Camp offers.  If a specific interest is sparked, participants can register for other day camp weeks where focused themes are presented.

Monday 7/1: Drop-off at the Lake Sammamish State Park main entrance Rotunda Shelter in the morning to experience an introduction to our Secrets of the Ancient Scout curriculum including scout philosophy, workout and games. In the afternoon, check out our Tracking curriculum with an introduction to Search & Rescue. NOTE: Parents pick up at the Hans Jensen Group Camp across East Lake Sammamish Pkwy from the boat launch where we will be the rest of the week.

Tuesday 7/2: Starting and ending at the Hans Jensen Group Camp, get a literal taste of Wild Edible Foods in the morning, and in the afternoon, experience an introduction to the Blue Skye Pioneer Camp.

Wednesday 7/3: Starting and ending at the Hans Jensen Group Camp, hike in the morning to find the best possible Survival camp location deep in the woods. In the afternoon, return to main camp for training to make fire from scratch, preparing the site for our July 4th Independence Day Campfire celebration that families are invited to attend the next day.

Please note that there is no parent presentation Wednesday afternoon. Instead, parents are invited all week to attend any of our Family Classes running Mon-Tue-Wed & Fri, plus July 4th Independence Day Campfire Music.

Returning Campers Only: Advanced Skills Sampler for ages 7-12 (call or email to check available space)

Our Advanced Wilderness Skills Sampler Day Camp is designed for campers returning from the prior week or years. The itinerary includes a taste of all of the advanced camps taking place later in the summer:

Monday: Drop-off at the Lake Sammamish State Park main entrance Rotunda Shelter in the morning to experience an introduction to Advanced Scouts with an intense workout, scout philosophy lesson, and hardcore scout games. In the afternoon, check out what Advanced Tracking is like as we conduct a focused tracking hike to survey animal sign and investigate bird language across the length of the park, with parent pick-up at the Hans Jensen Group Camp across East Lake Sammamish Pkwy from the boat launch.

Tuesday: Starting and ending back at the Hans Jensen Group Camp, hike in the morning to where Advanced Survival participants will create their survival camp at the end of the summer, preparing the site for debris huts and more. In the afternoon, continue with the advanced survival prep with a group fire-making challenge.

Wednesday: Starting and ending at the Hans Jensen Group Camp, get a literal taste of Advanced Herbology in the morning, and in the afternoon, experience an introduction to the unique Advanced Artisan.
