Outdoor Family Camps & Classes

We have a lot of great ways for families to learn together. We ran our first summer day camp in 1997, and we now offer a host of camps for kids, youth, adults and family. Experience our fun, skill-building programs guided by highly trained staff within our hallmark 6-1 average, 8-1 maximum student-teacher ratio that’s so critical for safe and profound outdoor experiences.

Sept 10-11 at Camp Curran near Tacoma WA. The gathering is a our annual conservation forum and skillshare rendezvous. Join us to attend or give presentations, browse crafts or sell wares, share and gain knowledge and skills at workshops, meet staff experts or network with other birders and naturalists, herbalists and ethnobotanists, wildlife trackers and nature photographers, subsistence hunters and fishermen, traditional craftmakers and artisans, organic farmers and sustainable builders. Summer Classes for All Ages

Click the following links for your chosen dates/location above for details on attending any/all of the morning or afternoon classes. Classes are open to all ages and cost just $30 per person if paid in advance, or $35 at the door if space remains available:

Summer Family Camps

Make the above classes a very affordable and accessible family camp week at just $270 per family member, for the entire week of classes plus after-lunch activities and complimentary Friday afternoon program as well. Your family will be on your own for all activities outside of our 9:30-3:30 day camp hours of operation, unless you choose to add meals with us. The programs are located at beautiful parks where you can swim, hike and play for hours, near metro areas where you can attend urban activities, shop and get around easily.

June 26-30, 2017 Puyallup Family Camp at Clark’s Creek Park – South Entrance, 1700 12th Ave. SW in Puyallup offers complimentary archery (parent supervision required) every day after lunch, plus Friday afternoon closing celebration. Click here for arrival/departure directions.

curranlodgeAdd Camping with our staff all week at the privately-reserved Camp Curran for an additional $50 per person. You’ll need your own transportation to-and-from Clark’s Creek, and showers are primitive. Or find your own accommodations such as a full-hook-up RV Site at the Puyallup Fairgrounds (5 mins) or camping at Dash Point State Park (30 mins) or book the Tayberry Cottage B&B (5 mins) or a Hotel in Puyallup (5 mins).

Add Meals with our staff need to be reserved at least a week in advance and cost an additional $50 for 4 dinners Mon-Thu 6pm at Camp Curran, $50 for 5 noon lunches Mon-Fri at Clark’s Creek Park, and $50 for 5 breakfasts Mon-Fri 8am at Camp Curran. Children age 6 and under may attend meals free with parent. You can choose breakfasts and/or lunches and/or dinners but it’s too complicated when people request to pay for individual days. Even if you make it to only 1, 2, 3, or 4 of your meal plan, full payment is required due to prior shopping/prepping/cooking involved.

July 5-7, 2017 Olympia Three Day Family Camp at Millersylvania State Park – Group Camp Site, 12245 Tilley Rd SW, Olympia, WA 98512 offers complimentary swimming (parent supervision required) every day after lunch, plus Friday afternoon bonus class on fire by friction. starting_pointAdd Camping with our staff on Wednesday & Thursday nights at our Group Camp adjacent to the park’s entry kiosk for an additional $50 per couple or family. If you have an RV or trailer, you will need to reserve a different camp site since ours is a walk-in site, but normal cars/trucks can park with a Discover Pass. The park has many RV Sites, tent sites, and a vacation house for rent, or book or a Hotel near Olympia (15 mins)

Add Meals with our staff need to be reserved at least a week in advance and cost an additional $50 per couple or family for 2 dinners Wed-Thu at 6pm, $50 for 3 noon lunches Wed-Thu-Fri, and $50 for 2 breakfasts Thu-Fri 8am. Children age 6 and under may attend meals free with parent. You can choose breakfasts and/or lunches and/or dinners but it’s too complicated when people request to pay for individual days. Even if you make it to only 1, 2, or 3 of your meal plan, full payment is required due to prior shopping/prepping/cooking involved.

July 24-28, 2017 family camp at the Lake Sammamish Hans Jensen Group Camp in Issaquah offers complimentary archery (parent supervision required) every day after lunch, plus Friday afternoon closing celebration. Click here for arrival/departure directions.

Add Meals with our staff need to be reserved at least a week in advance and cost an additional $50 for 4 dinners Mon-Thu 6pm on site, $50 for 5 noon lunches Mon-Fri on site, and $50 for 5 breakfasts Mon-Fri 8am on site. Children age 6 and under may attend meals free with parent. You can choose breakfasts and/or lunches and/or dinners for the week but it’s too complicated when people request to pay for individual days. Refund Policy: Standard deposits ($75 for day programs, $175 for overnight programs) are not refundable unless we don’t accept your application. If you cancel for any reason, you may receive a full credit good through the following calendar year on appropriate and available programs listed on our schedule, although an additional deposit may be required to secure your spot in the future program. If a program you sign up for is canceled and not rescheduled at a time you can attend, you may receive a full refund except in case of natural (weather, geologic, etc) disasters, government shutdowns, conflicts or curfews, or other unforeseen emergencies making it impossible for staff and/or attendees to reach or use program locations, in which case all payments made will be held by us without expiration date for your future use in appropriate/available programs of your choice. No refund, nor credit, is given if a participant is asked to leave a program for inappropriateness as determined by our kids, youth and adult agreements for participation.
