Wolf Journey Part Eight - Trail of the Environmental Educator
Wolf Journey is currently being re-written but in the meantime, we are providing the Volume I and some other unedited portions freely online. Books and other resources which you will need for successful completion of field exercises throughout Wolf Journey can be purchased through Granny's Country Store or by calling them at 406-287-3605 to order. You can work through Wolf Journey independently, but we recommend this book series as part of our Correspondence Course, Academic Year Class Series, In-Depth Apprenticeships and Summer Training Camps, but if you would like an instructor from your own area to guide you while studying these skills, we recommend clicking on PrimitiveSkillsLinks.Com to find an earth skills specialist near you who can personally review your field exercises and journaling work, which you can keep track of on your Student Transcripts. Other schools and outdoor instructors who would like to use this curriculum for their own programs are free to do so.
Wolf Journey Handbook for Students & Teachers
You have the choice of writing and completing stories and field exercises in your favorite area of study using the guidelines in the Handbook for Students & Teachers. To complete the recommended work in the handbook, you will need to design in-depth field exercises in your area of specialization, pass a written test on awareness skills, then complete a supervised survival trek in their local bioregion.
The Handbook also includes essays on how to teach these skills and how to run programs professionally in the field of nature awareness and wilderness survival. The Handbook also describes how to embark on rites of passage such as survival treks, sweat lodges and wilderness quests. If you are using this book series in a classroom or with an outdoor program, check out the Handbook for a comprehensive guide to helping students succeed in this course.
Teachers, professors, outdoor program instructors and parents guiding children through Wolf Journey and Coyote Challenge use this book to gain background information on the Earth Skills curriculum, resources and suggested guidelines for instruction. Further, essays on appropriate "rites of passage" ceremonies are explained in the Student & Teacher Handbook for others to uses as an example for their students. Many other tips are included, such as risk management systems, teaching suggestions, and equipment lists necessary for earth skills adventures.
